WINCHENDON, Mass., May 13, 2010 – Saloom Furniture Company today launched a website that will showcase its new contemporary line, called Peter Francis, which combines modern design with traditional-style craftsmanship.

American Modern FurnitureDanconia Media, a New Hampshire-based marketing and design firm, built the site, located at www.peterfrancisdesign.com, on a tight schedule so it could be launched in time for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City, which kicks off Saturday and ends Tuesday. Saloom Furniture will be at the event exhibiting Peter Francis and another new modern furniture line, Skyline.

The site was designed using an open-source and highly user-friendly content management system (CMS) that will make future updates simple. Danconia also designed Saloom Furniture's main site – located at www.saloom.com – and built the new site in a way that it can be expanded in the near future.

Peter Saloom, who founded Saloom Furniture 28 years ago, said he sought to make the Peter Francis line different from other contemporary furniture available on the market. The line will feature nine dining table designs, seven chairs and two buffets. Retail prices will begin at $3,000 for a five-piece set.

“I designed the Peter Francis line with aggressive geometry, but without the hardness and gloss I so often see in modern furnishings,” Saloom said. “I chose to use the best materials, solid maple and time-honored woodworking techniques – like precision miter joints reinforced with cherry splines – and strove to make each piece truly functional.”

Becki Gould, Saloom Furniture's marketing director, said the line is aimed at consumers who crave “authenticity” and that “there is a real appreciation for the craftsmanship and materials behind the line.” Saloom Furniture has managed to “reach a whole new audience of retailers and consumers, she said, thanks to the “combination of fresh modern design” and “traditional woodworking.”

The Skyline collection is also designed for contemporary enthusiasts, but is scaled for city environments. Retailing below $2,000, Skyline includes five dining tables, four chairs and one serving piece. The collection will be available for purchase in August.
