WINCHENDON, Mass., May 13, 2010 – Saloom Furniture Company will introduce two new collections of modern American-made dining furniture - called Peter Francis and Skyline - during the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City from May 15-18.

Peter Saloom, owner and designer at Saloom Furniture, sought to differentiate the pieces from other contemporary furniture lines on the market. The furniture will be built using top-quality materials, he said, and will feature “comfortable chairs, durable finishes and sturdy construction.”

“I designed the Peter Francis line with aggressive geometry, but without the hardness and gloss I so often see in modern furnishings,” Saloom said. “I chose to use the best materials, solid maple and time-honored woodworking techniques – like precision miter joints reinforced with cherry splines – and strove to make each piece truly functional.”

Becki Gould, Saloom Furniture's marketing director, added: “Consumers want authenticity, so there is a real appreciation for the craftsmanship and the materials behind the line. The combination of fresh modern design, along with traditional woodworking, has allowed us to reach a whole new audience of retailers and consumers.”

The Peter Francis collection includes nine dining table designs, seven chairs and two buffets. Retail price points for the line start at $3,000 for a five-piece set. Technical innovations include a “waterfall” solid maple table top, tripod forms and special miter joints.

The Skyline dining collection is also geared toward modern design enthusiasts, but is scaled for city spaces and positioned to hit retail price points below $2,000. The collection includes five dining tables, four chairs and a serving piece. The furniture is available in a range of light to dark finishes, including bleached and java.

“Again, it's a rare product position – original modern design in solid maple and American-made – but we've thrown the smaller scale and value elements into the mix,” Saloom said.

Both collections are being manufactured at Saloom Furniture's Massachusetts location.

Peter Francis and Skyline will be shown in Booth 2348 at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. For more information, visit www.peterfrancisdesign.com.
